I am interested in learning more about the mind body connection by improving my own, and building a new paradigm for health in my life.

Well.. alright, I am Margaret, I am 25 and trying to learn to master my life instead of be passenger to it. I have lived alternatively for a long time. I started hanging out on the street when I was 13 and ended traveling the country via hitchhiking and freight trains for about 5 years. Having raised myself so far outside of "the norm" I often experience difficulties accepting many of the things that are more widely accepted in our society, this is a blessing and a curse. Because I was homeless for so long, and at such a young age, I never learned to cook and am only now - almost 13 years later- beginning that journey. While traveling I was quite fit, even though my diet was poor (mostly cheeseburgers and beer)I was constantly on the move and had high stamina and endurance. I didn't not have opportunity to weigh myself often but I believe that I was about 160-165. When I moved indoors a few years ago my diet stayed the same but my physical activities just ended. I ended up gaining about 80lbs... I traveled again for a year and dropped down to 185, but then sprang back up to 220 (where I am now) as soon as I quit traveling again. It seems that I am very unaware of the connections between food and exercise and weight, but I am trying. My connection to my cognitive and emotional self has vastly improved and I hope to now manifest my motivation physically. I am a psychology major, president of the psychology club and also manage a health food store ( and yes I am overweight!)I have four dogs and a wonderfully supportive boyfriend. Hm.. I guess that's it for now.
