Cassie - Nothing is impossible
My name is Cassie, I'm 27 and I currently live in Charlotte, NC with my adorable dog - Daylin.
So far I've lost over 80 pounds with SparkPeople and I can't even imagine my life the way it was over a year ago. SparkPeople has taught me so much about healthy living, but more importantly, through the process, I've learned so much about myself. SparkPeople has taught me that I can do whatever I set my mind to and there really are no failures, just lessons to be learned. I love ...

I love everything about SparkPeople and what it stands for. Without it, I'm not sure I'd be where I am today in my weight loss journey.
What 'Sparked' my Weight loss Journey....
I've always been fairly heavy and in 2005, my senior year of college, I tried to take control and lost about 15 pounds but after I graduated I fell back into my same habits and gained about 60+ pounds in the process.
In January 2009 I went on a cruise with an ex-boyfriend and his family...it just made me really think about where I was with my weight, all the walking everywhere wore me out way to quick. Right after we got back from the cruise he broke up with me (via email none-the-less!) and I kinda hit bottom...it was one of those breakups where I had no idea anything was even wrong at all. I went for close to a month feeling empty, alone, and trapped in a body I didn't really like - to put it into perspective, I dealt with the breakup better than I dealt with realization of what I had let myself become. I didn't know where to start in making changes to my life, it seemed so overwhelming.
When my neighbor asked me to come over for drinks one night for a 'party' she was having to start a 3 month weight loss challenge I wasn't surprised she asked me - but I was surprised by my answer. I told her I wasn't sure and that I'd think about it. She said that if anything I could just come over and hang out. So I thought about it for a few days and decided, what did I have to lose? I knew I couldn't do it by myself and having a 'support system' seemed like a good idea, so I went to the party and joined the challenge.
A few days later I received an email from mypoints.com about SparkPeople. I signed up mostly for the points and I didn't really think I would like SparkPeople that much, but signing up for SparkPeople has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I think everything happens for a reason and even though the breakup was hurtful and emotional, it's actually one of the best things to ever happen to me. Without that push I'm not sure I would have been ready to change my life, and over a year later, I'm actually thankful that my ex did what he did, because it's exactly what I needed.
