I've decided you're right about the benefits of weighing, and now that I found out today I'm back in the 150's, I've decided to buy a scale and start keeping track of what works and what doesn't. I felt like I just couldn't handle it without panicking till I got back below 160.

Thanks so much for that touching story about your friend and her new dog. You're right--somehow I think we'll "just know" when we feel that a dog belongs with us. It happened so naturally with Joey, but he was just a puppy and probably would have adapted to anyone. We were so lucky, though, that he was as close to perfection as a dog can get. There are no puppies at the shelter any more, but we had decided that we should adopt an adult dog anyway, as they're less likely to find homes, and I'm not getting any younger myself. There are several good possibilities, though it will take some time for these extra-shy leftover dogs to get used to us enough to feel comfortable being put into a car and driven to our house over an hour away from the place they're used to. I'm trying to see it from the dog's point of view. They all have roommates at the shelter, too, so we don't want to break up any particularly tight partnerships.

I know that's TMI, but thanks for listening!

I hope your friend loves her new sweetheart. I hope you're doing well in every way.
