UPDATE: 1/26/12
Wow, it has been TWO YEARS since I posted last!!

I am disappointed in myself. I am back to my starting weight. I think my body has a weight it likes to go back to, like a "set" weight. Of course, I know I am responsible for what I eat, but it almost seems I can go back to the starting point and stay there.

I weighed in at 225 on Jan 3, 2012. Looking at my pics from a couple years ago, I am really disappointed in what I look like now. I started a 1500 cal/day eating plan and bought a treadmill. I lost 4 lbs that first week. Then I got sick. Chest cold, congestion, plus my asthma meant I couldn't breathe very well, so I stopped using the treadmill. I've basically been laid up for the last 2 weeks, unable to draw a good breath of air. Went to the doctor's, and found out they don't take my insurance, so now I am searching for a doctor I can visit tomorrow. I can't take being sick anymore. My friend works in a doctor's office and suggested I may have walking pneumonia. Uggghhh... I just want to get healthy!

So I will try to heal as soon as possible, then I will begin my better routine afterwards. Wish me luck, and I will try to update regularly!

UPDATE: 01/06/10
The holidays have beat me down. I am now at 202, which really isn't bad considering that I have not done much of anything to maintain my weight. I stopped going to the gym about 2 months ago because I had an injured foot. (Plantar facsiitis... a very painful arch condition.) I finally spent the money to correct the problem but it certainly was not cheap. but my foot is now almost completely healed, and it shouldn't give me anymore issues. I have also had various illnesses, from chest congestion to headaches to achy muscles and a pinched nerve. uggggghhh!! So getting better is the first thing I want to do before I head back to the gym.

I do look forward to going to the gym again. I always feel so energized and I NEED to get that feeling back! I now have new inspiration, so I just need my body to heal so I can get back into the routine! My goal for the moment is to lose 5 lbs. by mid February.

UPDATE: 10/20/09
I am now at 198 lbs. It has been a struggle for me in a way, but then again, I have been very casual about my approach. I cancelled my Curves membership, and my husband and I joined the YMCA. It has basically added that little boost I needed! Plus, with Joe going with me, my motivation has improved! I still eat like crap every now and then, but I am so much more conscious of the things I eat. And my appetite doesn't seem to be as big. I drink tons of water, and I am at the gym 5X a week now. So slow progress is fine with me... and it's a lifestyle I can stick with!!

I feel so much better about my body now than I EVER did... despite being heavier than I have been most of my life... I feel like I carry it well, and I look forward to losing the next 5 lbs!!

UPDATE: 8/17/09
I am still the same weight. I have not been trying at all this summer. I have come to the conclusion that I am an excellent quitter! :) I honestly don't mind being 205, mostly because I don't think I LOOK 205. But I feel it everyday when I wake up, so I really need to get my butt in gear. My husband has finally gotten to the point of changing his diet. We start together today. He has topped out at 315 and is ready for a change for the better. I just found out one of my best friends has lost 80 lbs since I've seen him last! I will post his pics if I remember when I'm done here.

My NEW short-term goal is to lose 5 lbs. by my anniversary, Sept. 7th. My next goal is to lose another 10 by my birthday, Oct. 7th. Beyond that, I am not really setting a goal, but in my head I know what I want. It all depends on how hard I am willing to work to get there! Stay tuned....

UPDATE: 6/19/09
I am 15 lbs. down from the start... only 11 more days to lose 6.8 lbs. Unlikely, but I am still trying. My calories have been between 1500 and 2500 recently, which sucks, I know. But exercise has been taking off the lbs. slowly but surely. I kind of like this... the weight loss may be slow, but I am enjoying some "forbidden" foods by adding more exercise. The only problem is, I have been slowly slacking on the exercise. This week I have been sick with an infection, but the antibiotics are kicking in and I will try to pick up more cardio to make up for the week. More to come in a couple weeks!

UPDATE: 5/18/09
I have lost approx. 10 lbs that I had gained over the winter. Not where I want to be, but not bad for the first 30 days.

My short-term goal remains the same, and I am right on track... to lose 23 lbs total by the end of June, putting me at 200. That's ground zero for me, the amount I weighed when I lost my original 30 lbs.

Beyond that, I would like to lose 5 more by mid-July, when my mom comes to visit from PA. That will put me at 195 by that time.

UPDATE: June 1, 2009
I started at 223 on April 15.
In 6 1/2 weeks I have lost 13.2 lbs.
I am happy with that and hope to continue losing at a nice steady pace!

* Lost 30 lbs. by Summer 2008, gained 25 back over the winter! Grrrr!
* New Beginning Weight: 223 lbs. (April 2009)
* New Goal Weight: 180 lbs. by Oct. 30, 2009.
* Stay fit, no matter what!
* If not actively losing weight, MAINTAIN weight.

To my dismay, I gained a lot over the holidays. As of 4/15/09, I weighed in at 223.8... I know HOW it happened, but I didn't think I gained THAT much!But that's all coming off soon! Wish me luck, and watch my ticker!

I have lived in Florida for the last 3 years. I was born and raised in central Pennsylvania, but eventually, I couldn't stand the length of the winters! Now I am in the hot, humid weather and I realized that I am too uncomfortable with my body to wear some of the things I would like to wear. I've never owned a tank top, and I cover myself at the beach. My ultimate goal is to be able to wear a bathing suit or tank top (or both) without worrying if my arms or belly looks fat! I have always been able to conceal my problem areas well, but I can't wait till the day I can stop thinking about it!

    Are you a childcare provider? "Professional babysitter" made me laugh. I usually call it a "glorified babysitter." But I get to be home with my own kids so its all good.
