As of 6/2015 ---80 pounds lost!

I've always been big. I developed diabetes and high blood pressure when I was 20, but things are looking up.

I'm running now and I'm noticing changes every time I run whether it be endurance, a feeling, or a physical thing. It is truly exciting!

When I was pregnant at 20 years old, I was diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure. I was devastated. I couldn't believe what the doctor was saying. Of course, I was hoping that after I had my first child (who by the way was 10 pounds at birth!) that the diabetes would dissipate. I was tested after I had my first daughter and I still had high sugar levels over 200.

Between having my first and second child, I bounced between the 260-270 range....

Fast forward to 2010: I had my second daughter 2 weeks early and she come via c-section at a whopping 11 pounds 10 ounces and I was 272 right before giving birth!

After I had my second child, I "shrunk" (if you can call that) to 260. I felt horrible and had no energy to keep up with my small children.

I've been making excuses to go to the doctor that really were not worth risking my life. So, last year I finally got to a doctor and we tried a few different things to control my blood pressure levels and diabetes. By the middle of last year, my blood pressure levels stabilized, but my A1c levels actually increased 0.2%. I felt like I was getting nowhere.

By November I had it with the constant struggle of diabetes. I began eating smaller portions and before I knew it, I was fuller anyway with smaller portions.

Let's rewind a bit to March 2013. My A1c levels were at 8.6%. After I started medication, my A1c actually went UP in August to 8.8%. I was overwhelmed as to how that could've happened. But, by the time March 2014 came around, my A1c Levels were at 7.1%!!

It is finally paying off and the best part? Once I hit 6.5% I will not have to take diabetes medication anymore. Diet controlled, here I come!!!!

Diabetic A1c:
March 2013- 8.6%
August 2013-8.8% (YIKES!)
March 2014-7.1% (YES!!!!)
June 2014-7.0% (YAY!)
Oct. 2014 - 6.4% (NOW A CONTROLLED DIABETIC!)

I feel empowered!!!!


My Program:
Portion control has been my obsession lately and to no surprise..it has worked!
