I have had a weight problem ever since I was a child. I remember how focused my family was on it. When I was in fifth grade, I met a pediatrician who got me a diet I could manage myself and I became pretty empowered and lost a great deal of weight. When I went to college, when most people gain weight I lost and kept it off pretty well until after my first child. About the age of 40, I mentally became tired and threw in the towel. Unfortunately the pounds started to sneak up on me. At 55 I got on the scale and realized I could be considered obese. Also my blood pressure was up and my liver enzymes and my calcium levels were out of whack. I knew I had to gain control again, or I won't be able to enjoy my grandchildren.

I been with Spark People for just over six years now. I am not where I want to be but my doctors have seen a radical improvement in all the things that were going bad. I am still fighting with my liver, but have made changes that will help that situation. I had a very emotional year a while ago and gained back a good chunk of what I lost. I try not to dwell on that. I am still working toward my goal weight but enjoying life as it comes. I appreciate all the support that I have received from my Spark Friends and am committed to keep at it.

I really would prefer 52 degrees right now. Your 52 that is! Here, 52 makes us feel like we are freezing. I want to move to Iceland right now! Every year I seem to get worse with tolerating the heat. I hate it! Especially when we keep getting hotter, earlier each year! UGH! emoticon
We need rain, but I hate to say that because Hurricane Season starts on June 1! Sigh. Always dread that! And you ask why did we move to FL? I ask myself that more and more.
Hope the rains aren't too bad for you. I know you have had lots of problems with it. Anyone along the Mississippi and Arkansas Rivers are really having a tough time. Crazy, crazy weather these days.
Glad you liked the pic of Yuma. He is a cutie! That is the pic the park has of him. He is a friendly guy, looks like he even wanted to have the pic taken! emoticon
Have a good Friday and weekend! emoticon
