Hope you had a good weekend, too! Mine was pretty good, actually. Friday sucked because I was in pain most of the day, but I managed to get some sleep that night, and felt pretty good (at least during the day) on Saturday and Sunday. My best friend from Flagstaff came over on the 4th. We got bbq takeout, and then watched the fireworks from my patio. For a small town, they do a pretty amazing fireworks show here, better than anywhere else I've lived. Maybe it's because we're a tourist destination (when there were tourists), but whatever the reason, it's pretty impressive.

How was yours? Is your littlest still there?

I don't like it much, either. Mostly because it hurts and keeps me awake at night. On the bright side, we got our first monsoon storm today. Of course, it decided to hit at full force while I was walking back from the mailbox. It's only about a 7 minute walk, but one can get surprisingly wet in 7 minutes. emoticon

No, you're right, summer isn't helping at all. I can't say I'm surprised, it's not the flu so no reason to think it would act like it. I get nervous when they start talking about the so called "second wave" in the fall. Seems to me that the "first wave" is still going strong.

The school issue is worrying. I think a lot of schools are struggling to come up with a plan. One school district down in the valley came up with the idea of having the kids come back just one day a week (staggered, I think), then work from home the other 4 days. However, some parents are protesting because they want the kids back full time (not sure how you'd squeeze all of the kids into the same space and still social distance) and others don't want to send them back at all. If I were a parent and able to stay home myself, I think I'd want to home school, but not everyone can do that. I do worry that the kids' education is suffering and that there will be a lot for them to catch up on when this is finally over.

One thing, for sure, this pandemic is illuminating all of the cracks in our various systems (economic, education, social, medical, etc.).

Hi again. Thank you for the update on your brother-in-law. I'm glad that he got through the surgery and that your husband and son did get to see him. With things the way they are these days with hospital visitations, it's good that he went home for a bit. The fact that his chemo won't start for 6 weeks will at least give him a chance to recover a bit from the surgery. All my best thoughts to your and your family while you're dealing with this. emoticon

Hi Linda, I'm so sorry, but somehow I missed your post about your brother-in-law's condition. I am so sorry! What a lot for him and your family to have to deal with, especially right now. Did he have the surgery? How did it go? I hope he came through it okay. It sounds as though he has a hard road ahead of him. I hope your son and husband got to visit last weekend, especially, as you said, with all of the restrictions on visitations at hospitals these days. Please send me an update on his condition. Hang in there!
