I'm Lici and I've joined sparkpeople because I desperately want to lose the weight I've wanted to shift for years. After trying a million diets and plans and never really sticking to them, this time I want it to be different. I want to be healthy and happy, and I feel determined to get there. That said, my motivation will undoubtedly flag soon enough, so any words of wisdom and encouragement would be much appreciated to help me on my journey!

I'm a vegetarian, so if anyone has any good veggie recipes for losing weight I would be very grateful. I am aiming to do the Beachbody workout 'Turbofire' as my exercise. I've given it a go twice now and I find it TOUGH so i'm trying not to be to hard on myself and ease myself in gently. I like exercise to be enjoyable, and finding that exercise for me is not easy! I used to do circuit training at a womens gym, which I loved, but since moving away to university I can't do it any more as there is no gym like that nearby. I am open to suggestions so if any one has any ideas for me, do let me know!

I would like to lose about 20 pounds by the end of this year, and I really hope I get there with sparkpeople! :)

    emoticon Welcome to SparkPeople!

Are you competitive by nature? One of my daily goals is to hit 100 SparkPoints. When I do that, I've not only read articles, I've interacted with other members by reading and commenting on their blogs and writing my own blog. 100 points gets me here and gets me active each and every day.

When I started, I made the commitment to workout daily and write a blog about it. On days when I don't feel like doing it, I think about the blog I need to write and I certainly do NOT want to write that I was lazy and did not work out.

Maintain your goals on your SparkPage (that's what all the goal-setting gurus write about) and make the goals public on your page. Write about it on your blog every day.

Weight loss = calorie maintenance, cardio, and strength. Calorie maintenance is every day, cardio is at least five days per week, and strength is 3 to 4 days per week. I believe you need all three for a successful weight loss and fitness program.

Above all, be consistent. Doing something toward you goal every day will pay big rewards over the next few months. You can do this!

emoticon to the Message Boards LICIDOLL28! You sound like you're ready to get serious about reaching your personal goals... emoticon . I recommend you choose a couple of SparkTeams to join and start making new friends. You should make sure they are focused on something that shares your interests. What motivates me more than anything is to be very involved in a 2 or 3 SparkTeams that are basically Challenges. I make new friends, have plenty of support & positive accountability too. It pushes my competitive buttons...get to compete against myself & have friendly competition with other team members as well. It's a win-win for everybody. Wishing you great success in moving toward your healthy lifestyle for a lifetime! emoticon
