This is the start of a brand new me!
I am a healthier, wiser, and slimmer me. I am a student at Davenport University, pursuing a Doctorate in Business, specializing in Management. Outside of my studies, much of my energy is focused on my family, who not only support me in what I do but inspire my creativity and individuality. My husband, Nebraska and I have been friends for 35 years and married for 27 years. We have five marvelous daughters, Kenya and Kiyanna (the twins), 35; Ariele, 26; Christian, 21, and Brittany, 17. We also have 3 grandchildren; Shakira, 17; Danielle and Terrell (the twins), 15. All of us delight in reading (especially the Word) and watching movies together. Aside from my family and reading, other personal interests include enjoying music (jazz and gospel), stage plays, cooking, and first and foremost, praising and worshiping the Lord.

My Goals:
Father God…Help me while I take a new lifestyle approach to strive for long-term solutions to a chronic problem, not a short-term fix. Help me while I'm making a lasting lifestyle change and not expecting a quick fix, but establishing new habits and working hard to make them part of my daily life. My lifestyle approach will emphasize gradual, sustainable, and permanent changes in my lifestyle, exercise, attitude, relationships, and nutrition. Lord give me the strength.


My Program:
I am following simple premises, that I believe is the foundation of all successful weight loss goals. They are:
1. Make your calorie input smaller than your calorie output. If you burn more calories than you eat, then you are doing your body a favour.
2. Live by portion sizes. You can't work out your calories if you serve up your food on plates bigger than CD's, so I am making sure that I measure what I am eating, which also teaches me how to eat the correct amount.
Thats basically it. Reducing sedentary activities, engaging in more physical activity, and burning more calories than you consume is the key to weight management. In addition, relying on a balanced diet rich in green vegetables, calcium and protein, not only helps maintain weight, but also supports healthy bone maintenance.

Dear God,
I admit that I have come to both loveand hate the word "diet."On the one hand, it represents hope for change. On the other, it's like a sign flashing "Failure ahead!"
I don't want to embark on another faulty plan, Lord.
I want to embark on a journey with You that is led by You and depends on Your power.
I can do nothing on my own!
Show me the path that will enable me to change.
Show me, as only You can, what works for me, what is healthy for me.
I want to think of this venture in positive terms, Lord--not that I am signing up to be miserable or in want.
I want to learn to feed my body what it truly needs when it truly needs it.
And to feed my soul with the Bread of Life--You!
Today I place my future, my failures, my setbacks,
all of my hopes and plans into Your hands.
There alone will I find meaning and true success in my life.
Amen.
