Personal Information:
From Herndon, VA. I'm 32. I have a cute/active 5 yr old son. I've been with my husband for 12 yrs, but married for 6+ yrs. I need to get healthy because I need to do it for me. Plus, my mom died 8yrs ago from gallbladder cancer (she didn't smoke.) My dad smoked for 50 yrs and has COPD, he quit 3 yrs ago, but isn't doing well. I just don't want to die at 53, like my mom and suffer with breathing like my dad. It makes me very sad, but I'm going to try everything I can not to go down the same path!


Other Information:
I like to read, sing, play with my son, spend time with my husband and family. Listen to music, go for hikes/walks in nature.

    I've only had the 1 baby. We have been trying for another baby for awhile but we both have some issues that are making it difficult. WE have been told by 2 different doctors that IVF will probably be our only option. Right now that's not in our plan because it's expensive and my husband coaches at a catholic high school. Oh well, if it happens, it does. Until then, I will just focus on the one miracle we have and focus on my health.

    Krissy, sorry I haven't been as interactive of late. I am STILL sick...in fact, getting another new thing again. I'm having a sleep study done and hope that that will shed some light on things, as well as possibly getting my tonsels out this summer. We shall see.

    In the meantime, I hope that you are able to get out and enjoy this BEAUTIFUL weather! You deserve it! And congrats on staying away from cigarettes! You're awesome!

    By the way - I value your friendship and support. It is so meaningful to have others who understand while I am going through this. I am sorry to hear that you also have been struggling with mixed moods a lot. I hope this is improving since you last wrote me. I actually just read about mixed episodes recently and I am aware that I too go through that. I found an awesome book that I have been using a little here and there, it's a Dialectal Behavior Therapy workbook for Bi Polar. This method has also been helpful for depression. I can let you know how I like it as I continue to read/work in it.

    You wrote about how the weather affects you a lot. It is great that you have that awareness! My depression/mania is totally seasonal.... and as I am becoming more aware of that it's helping me to anticipate how my energy or mood level might be that day. If you need support through this please write me any time. I would always be willing to support you or offer advice if needed.

    I read something recently that really stuck in my mind, basically that it's okay to "take a day off" from the mental processing/emotional healing that we are going through. It can be draining on a person and I think it's fine to let oneself just "be" some days, instead of feeling the need to resolve all of ones issues. Easier said than done though, I know. But I hope that kind of resonates with you too.
