After being away from Spark People for too long, I am back for some helpful motivation.
I am retired from the Air Force, and I only work part time, working sports programs as a site supervisor.
Being retired, I do not routinely get the regular daily exercise that I once did, working full time. I need to concentrate on my exercise, healthy eating, and need to drop 30 or so lbs. My dog and I both eat organic and natural, probably about 70% of the time. I do have some unhealthy habits, but that's OK. I am after all human, and I do so enjoy LIFE!!!
I am the type of person who needs to go all out with my exercise, but right now I am overcoming a knee dislocation. This, unfortunately happens at any time, so mainly what I need to do, is to strengthen my quads. I do wear a knee brace, so I should still be able to complete my mile runs a couple times a week.

My Goals:
GOALS

CW: 170
GW: 140

1000 steps a day
500 FITNESS MINUTES EACH MONTH

PULL-UPS: This is more pf a personal goal, rather than a fitness goal. I have never been able to do these, so I want to try to be able to do at least three.
Goal: 3-5

Run a 5K in 30 min. Of course, this will be my goal, once I get my knee strenghened.

***PROVE TO OTHERS THAT FITNESS IS STILL WITHIN REACH WHEN YOU ARE 60+

My Program:
1) Keep a positive attitude
2) Healthy eating
3) Drink 8-12 cups water daily
4) Daily walks/runs with dog
5) Daily Strength training and Isometric exercises

Personal Information:
I live in the Rogue Valley, in Southern Oregon.
I am retired from the Oregon Air National Guard/US Air Force.

Other Information:
I am a dog handler/ trainer of 40+ years. I train and handle my own dog in trailing work (similar to tracking, but different), and scent detection.
I love to help people! I am an independent, volunteer, search dog handler. My dog work is the main reason why I must be healthy and fit. Handling a tracking dog, takes good legs to take you through the woods and brush, and good upper body strength to hang onto that little "freight train" of a dog pulling you along that trail. But it's all worth it, because it is my passion in life! Nothing else matters as much!!

Hi. If you want/need a little push...consider joining us for an 9 week challenge.

Why not join the X-WEIGHTED CHALLENGE? We're all ages, all fitness levels, all striving to live a healthier life. There is always something to learn from each other. These teams are also a great source of motivation! We can become healthier by working together and making new friends as we go. We compete in weekly nutrition and fitness challenges. It is similar to the Biggest Loser team. There are 3 teams that compete within the X-Weighted team. We do ATC (All Teams Challenge) various challenges (nutrition, fitness etc.) The main requirement is to post your weight weekly. The ATC challenges and/if individual teams have challenges are optional (however, very beneficial). If you have any questions, please let me know.

Claudia - Congratulations on your wonderful loss this week! It just goes to show that you were building and adding more muscle weight when you were struggling. Which is not a bad thing as the muscle burns calories faster.
