I've been a Spark member since 5/25/2004. That's a lot of time, to learn a lot, collect a lot of underpants, suffer from analysis paralysis, and go the wrong direction. Granted, there were a lot of absences in that period...which kind of highlights my #1 problem... consistency. But I'm here again, and I'm still working on it. Fall down once, get back up. Keep going.

Fitness Minutes: 90,853

My Goals:
I really want to improve my overall fitness. I'm just out of shape all around. I want to tone up and feel strong and be flexible. I want to "dominate my bodyweight." I want to feel comfortable in my own body and be able to just move and live my everyday life without worrying about being too sore, too tired, too weak, too out of shape, to scared I'm going to injure my back.

I want to be happy with myself and how I look and feel, no matter what I weigh, and I want to be a good example for my sons as they get older. To be proud of myself and teach them good habits, I need to develop those good habits for myself 1st.

My Program:
Right now, I do nothing, and it's got to change.
In the past, I tried jogging/running... never really enjoyed it, and it was pretty hard on my body.
I've enjoyed walking, but never saw much progress from it...but at least I was doing something and felt better.
Cardio kickboxing DVDs like TurboJam (and the occasional in person BodyCombat class back in the day) were fun. Zumba was ok, but repetitive. I have a hard time carving out that "me" time for scheduled classes because it's just that much more time away from my family/kids. I crave flexibility, but cave when executing...
Weight training is just meh. I tried ChaLean Extreme. I like fitness bands. I like Nia Shanks material. I like seeing progress. I hate getting too sore too quick and stalling out.

Yoga classes were great (but see above re outside classes). I have a few videos I like, but they just feel lacking overall. I really do love yoga though. The strength, flexibility, mentality of it

Personal Information:
Married to my high school sweetheart with two amazing boys. Homeschooling my teen right now, and chasing my pre-schooler. Working full time with two hours of commute time every day (yay, audiobooks).

    Welcome to the No S Diet team, where it is really about a lifestyle, though I know they all say that. You have an incredible reason for wanting to learn to beat your habit of bingeing, no? Keep magnifying that reason and any others that are not about beating yourself up until it seems that anything you have to give up is a very worthy sacrifice in comparison with what you get. How painful is your overeating and dealing with its effects? Could it actually be more painful than the effort it would take to reduce your eating in general and limit the foods you know aren't great for your or your family, even when it feels hard? Do you think that if you lived in a different culture, you would be in the position you're in? Just about everyone in America is grappling with a difficult food culture, but with a reasonable plan and the conviction that it is worth the necessary discomfort (and that's all it is), we can create our own culture of moderate eating. Literally millions have done it without ever being on a diet. They just call it eating, and with practice over time, you will, too.

    There is NO reason to overeat that can't be dealt with adequately most of the time. We are NOT helpless against our desires when we know that we are not starving ourselves. Our bodies were MADE to work with gaps between meals and some periods of very little food, or our ancestors would never have made it! We don't have to get skinny, but we do have to eat less at least some of the time.

    It's worth it!
