Proud mother of two, grandmother of two, and wife of one! Retired and active, I love the outdoors, reading, gardening and spending time with family. Healthy living has sort of become my hobby, and I am hoping it is rubbing off on my two girls and their families.

Update, October, 2019: I have been dealing with a flare-up of BPPV (vertigo) for the last six weeks, and it has seriously compromised my ability to do so many of the things I love: fitness classes, bike riding, gardening...

Winter has come early to Alberta, and I am trying to come up with another cooking project. I have done "100 new-to-me recipes in 365 days" and "a year of soups". I don't dare do desserts!!

I have also been doing a "Purge One Item Daily" project, as I attempt to declutter my house somewhat. I started on January 1, 2019, and even though I have been diligent about tossing or donating one Item every day, it hardly shows! How does a person accumulate so much "STUFF"?

Our wee Scottie Fergus died a few weeks ago, and for the first time in several years we are a dogless household. It just doesn't feel right not to have a dog, so we will be looking for a puppy in the next year.

I turned 65 this past June. I don't know how I feel about that. In one way, I am more comfortable in my own skin now than when I was younger, but physically, the challenges of aging seem very difficult. I miss the carefree days of youthful health and well-being.

I track my food and activities on another iPad program, so do not keep track of it here - but I do track what I eat every single day. (I have been tracking since December 2010! I didn't expect to keep at it so consistently, but it is the most effective tool I have for keeping my weight in check.)

    I’m glad to be seeing you back again recording your meditating. You were always a nudge to me as well. I went out and looked at the meditation app you were using, I got so curious!
    Puppies are such a joy. My two make me laugh most every day. Plus of course the exercise.

    He just had the consultation for the surgery last week. They saw some other things in the CT scan, so he will need to get a colonoscopy before the hernia surgery. Colonoscopy will likely be in November, and we are hoping for the first week of January for the hernia surgery but haven't received the notification from the specialist yet for either procedure. Sometimes the waiting is almost unbearable, but at least we are moving in the right direction!!!

    Thank you for the SparkGift. I too am in a rough space right now and I find that it is harder for me to meditate - when I really do need it. If things in my life are good - I'm happy, etc - I can meditate until the cows come home. When I'm stressed, anxious, have a lot of pressure on me - when I really need meditation the most - THAT is when I have a hard time sitting down and focusing on my breath. So.....I do what I can - today, I will meditate for five minutes. Just five minutes - anyone can do that. Look for five minutes in your day that you can give to you. Wishing you some calm and happiness. I too need to go find those five minutes. Thanks.
