47 year old mother of two--one boy, 11, and one girl, 16. Happily living on the Left Coast after growing up in Massachusetts. (one benefit of growing up there is I don't have to look up how to spell the state's name!) Before I became a mom, I taught conversational English in S.Korea, then went traveling solo through Nepal, India and Thailand for six months. 'Twas an adventure with ups and downs.

My goal at Sparkpeople? 1) Not flake out & disappear before I reach my fitness/weight goal, 2) Get fitter by getting into a routine of fitness, and 3) use all those DVDs I've ordered off of Amazon, an astonishing number of which are apparently *advanced* fitness DVDs. Eeek!

My Goals:
My general goals are up to your right at the top of the page. My specific goals:

Develop some muscles

Lose the fat padding as much as possible, so that my hard work SHOWS--maybe 150 lbs?

Feel better about my self, my self-image & my overall health.

Overcome low-level, constant depression without letting my health insurance rates get me down! (seriously, why aren't brain problems given the same credence as physical problems?)

My Program:
What I'm doing:

Probably not enough, BUT--

1) Doing at least one exercise workout every other day do I don't injure myself (no longer 20 or 30 yrs old anymore...:(

2) Mark down my food as much as possible, no cheating or "secret eating" & stay within the range SP has given me.

And that's about it!

    Hi Gypsygoth!

    Yeah, although I've been scarce the past what, month or two? We recently had to tent our house for termites (yuck yuck yuck), which was a huge drain with packing, organizing, etc.

    And recently a puppy followed some friends home, but they couldn't keep him, so we took him in the *night we got home after the termite tenting!* and he's been a handful. Before that I've been trying to distribute my time and have been getting overwhelmed, frankly, with everything that's going on.


    I hope it's all been going well with you. I'll stop by the forum/s today and do some catching up. I seem to poop out around the end of the school year. And I desperately need to get back into working out, but I totally lost the ooomph, even after buying some kick-butt videos that I really like. :(

    Hello!!!! You commented on my blog a LOOOOONG time ago and I've been MIA ever since. But just to answer your questions regarding the long distance weight loss competition! 8 girls from all over my state submitted $20 to the Lead girl. The Lead girl was responsible for receiving our weights every two weeks and then she was reveal the "Ranking List" so that no one really knew each others weights. At the end the girl with the greated overall weight loss percentage got the majority of the submitted money (IT WAS ME!!! I was SO thrilled!) and then a smaller amount of prize money to 2nd place and 3rd place. It was great and a lot of fun!

    Thanks for visiting my blog about KB. And your comment. Yes, I love my kettlebell. And I am doing great with it. I like cast iron bell much better then sand fill one. Even same weight, but feels lighter on the sand one. I'm still waiting iron core KB DVD from Amazon. I can't wait, I am so excited. Are you still doing KB challenge at our team thread?
