I am 70 years old. According to my birth certificate. But I run like a much younger person. And in many ways, I think like a younger person. But I'm proud to be old and value my experiences and lessons I've learned from them.

I am planning a good year. Playing with twin grandsons born in August of 2017. Running and biking. Need upper body strength.

I love this quote: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is." - Albert Einstein.

About running: "Some people create with words or with music or with a brush and paints. I like to make something beautiful when I run. I like to make people stop and say, 'I've never seen anyone run like that before.' It's more than just a race, it's a style. It's doing something better than anyone else. It's being creative."- Steve Prefontaine

Personal Information:
70 years old. Born and raised in Rhode Island but moved to the Pittsburgh area in 1971 and never left.

Ran on state championship cross country team while in high school then did not run in college or for a dozen years after college. Started running again in 1984 with a goal of running in the Boston Marathon. Have run that 4 times and over 50 other marathons or ultramarathons.

Married with 3 daughters and 4 grandsons. 6 sisters and no brothers in the house while I was growing up so I am glad to have some young men in the family. I do have a brother who is 18 years younger than me.

Other Information:
Love to read mystery novels.

Ever hear of my band Chronic Insomnia? And the cheery song "Put a Bullet in My Head" that I wrote for it? LOL.

emoticon I see you are on the Appalachian Trail with Walking 4 Fun....

Have you done the Scottish Highlands Trail there? That is a Virtual Trip to Scotland!
I found it delightful...except for the bit reaching the highest point on the trail.

Where are you planning to watch the marathon when you're in NYC? I have a friend who lives along the route...5th Avenue and 118th. Its right on ground level. She does a marathon gathering. Lots of fun and great people. You could also head into Central park from there if you plan on meeting your wife at the finish line.

We'll talk, but just wanted to put this info out to you. Enjoy your xcountry trek. emoticon
