10/2/19 I had L4, L5 microdiscectomy. In this process I had not been able to stand, or walk unassisted. Work was difficult, being a mom,was even more difficult, and with excruciating nerve pain, excercise was not an option ditto on cooking. During this time, depression and determination took, over. The first specialist doctor pushed weight loss via pills from,my primary care telling me,my life, would get worse. A week after I began seeking a 2nd poi,ion and realized this was,the 1st time,I blantantl2 was treated as a weight limit not a patient with a treatable problem. After seeing the 2nd specialist, MRI was done and when I went back to go over the results, it was with great detail and hope. I left the office with a surgery date 14 days away. When I woke up from the surgery and had to get up in the hospital after 10pm, I was able,to walk for the first time with no pain in my leg. I could stand straight. And due to the months of being unable,to do much of anything, weight loss had started. As part of my recovery, I had to walk every day after surgery. When I was back to my own home, I was still using a walker, bit was slowly stop using it and began walking with Leslie Sansone via Youtube videos. Granted I went super slow, but I did it. I am currently as of 1/1/20, 12 weeks post op. I walk daily with Leslie videos and use resistance bands, and have learned a lot from therapy on regaining all of the core strenght I had lost after being unable to the simplest of tasks on my own. Silly as it sounds, standing to take a shower was exhausting, brushing my,teeth I was leankng over the counter to help me. I started with 1 mile walks and manage to now walk between 1 and 5 miles depending on the day. I am working again and being a busy mom again as well as learning better eating options and portions. The advantage of the surgical scar is over eating causes discomfort at the incision point. So far, I am 22lbs down. This past year,of 2019 has been full,of challenges for me with my health decline and rebound after surgery. My goal for 2020 is to continue on my progress with changes in eating, and workouts, even though they will be modified for my spinal health. Walking in 2018 out of necessity changed my body and spirit, the latter end of 2019 Walking has helped me recover from back surgery. This year in 2020, I want walking to continue to be the foundation of my fitness and health routine with a few extras,(modified even!) thrown in for more pounds and inches gone!

Hey Done Girl -- Happy Spring!! To celebrate the season, I would like to wish you a brand new start, never-ending moments of poise and balance and a joyful tip over on the scale to the side of light. I wish you a new dawn, an eternal youth and a morning star to wish on. Whatever battles you are fighting, whatever stresses may come your way, may they melt away with the winter and may you be granted a time of new light and a new life where your wildest dreams come true.

If you ever need a shoulder, a friend or a virtual coffee at some point, drop by and say hello! I've just celebrated my SP six month anniversary and am amazed at the absolutely incredible amount of support I've received with not only weight loss but life in general. ~ Michelle
