    Thanks for your comment on my aspartame blog! Look up GLPs - they are a whole set of laws (code of federal regulations, or CFRs), that came out of the aspartame debacle. GLPs now outlaw the shoddy lab work used to approve aspartame illegitimately. For example, they'd start a necropsy on a mouse, find it had all kinds of problems and tumours due to the ingestion of aspartame, so they'd refrigerate / freeze it then go back 18 months later and say, "gee we can't do a final report or report findings about this mouse due to decay".

    I have worked in GMPs, GCPs, and GLPs for the last 15 years. So boy was I shocked to learn, from watching Sweet Misery aspartame documentary free online, that GLPs came directly from aspartame! All the shenanigans that went on, are now outlawed by GLPs.

    Also, neotame is far worse than aspartame, and is 2,000 times sweeter than sugar so it is NEVER 1% of the product, since a tiny bit goes a loooong way. Per FDA rules, you only have to list it in the ingredients on the label, if it comprises 1% or more of the product. Therefore, it is NEVER listed on the label. Pop, salad dressings, and a million other things . . . yep if it's manufactured food, including certified organic processed food, then it's in there.

    Aspartame and neotame are cheaper ingredients than sugar. It's cheaper for manufacturers to make food with them, than it is to use real sugar.

    Things are coming along. Although not as quickly as I would like, slow and steady is the only way to do this. It's getting frustrating that the scale isn't moving, but I know I can't rely solely on just the number. My clothes are fitting better, so I know changes are happening. I just want to be OUT of the 200's! I got about 50 more lbs to go.
