UPDATE: April 2009...

Been enjoying the "new" me for close to a year now. Best part is adding running to my fitness regime. Never considered myself a runner, but after the C25K program last year I'm hooked. I'm running 15-20 miles a week and loving it. Got 2nd place in my first triathlon! Looking to do a half-marathon at some point...

Still working out the kinks in nutrition maintenance. I seem to know how to be in "diet" mode very well, but learning to eat more -- and still eat well -- is an ongoing challenge.

SparkPeople has been an incredible help in my quest for fitness and health. I've enjoyed making new friends and being inspired by so many people.

Thanks, friends! It's been a great journey and I'm looking forward to staying on it with you...

I've never joined any group to lose weight before -- not online, Weight Watchers, etc. because I always thought I could do it on my own. But instead of pounds coming off, they just keep creeping on. I'm tired of being heavy, tired of seeing myself in pictures and being horrified, tired of shopping for clothes that "hide" my weight.

Update, Feb. 2009: Just a little over a year since I joined SparkPeople and what a year it's been. Reached my goal weight summer 2008, and have been maintaining at or below since. The journey continues as well as the adventures ... I've taken up running, a new and challenging sport. And I'm continually learning that just as there's no magic to GETTING thin, there's no magic to STAYING thin. Just hard work, healthy eating and a sense of humor.

My Goals:
1. Look forward to washing my jeans!
2. No longer consider black "my color" in my wardrobe!
3. Stop fixing my hair so my face will look thinner!
4. Like what I see when I catch my reflection!
5. Swim the English Channel.

My Program:
Use SparkPeople to track my nutrition and stay within the calorie goals. Maintain my regular swimming workouts and add core training. Reduce dependency on white flour and sugar.
