Having had my sons late in life (37 and 38) made me look at my health for their sakes. I want to be around as long as possible and be the most active and energetic I can be. Mostly, I want to demonstrate good health and well being so they can grow into physically and emotionally healthy adults.

My high weight before starting in Overeaters Anonymous was 215 pounds in 1996. I was 28. I lost 80 pounds with that program and kept most of it off until I got married and miscarried. I started both pregnancies in the 160s, getting above 200 both times.

In 2007 I started loosing the baby weight. It took about 15 months to loose 35 pounds. In 2008 when I was done nursing my second child, I got serious and lost the last 20 pounds that was holding me back by restricting almost all carbohydrates. I got down to 125, 5 pounds more than my high school weight. I maintained that for about 3 years, but constantly yo-yo'd 10-15 pounds because I would binge on and then restrict carbohydrates.

in the summer of 2010 I moved across country from CA to Boston. I was not able to loose more than 5 of the 20 pounds I gained for any significant length of time. I was no longer able to restrict Carbohydrates because emotional eating became intense after leaving my home and friends back in California as well as going from a stay at home mom to full time working mom with 2 young hyperactive boys!

I tried weight watchers from Feb-May 2011 and lost 18.3 pounds; only to gain 18.2 pounds yo-yoing my weight week to week. Each week was different: 1lb down, 3lbs up, 5lbs down, etc. This revealed to me in no uncertain terms that I have a real problem with dieting and need to make changes mentally in how I look at weight loss.

March 2012
So here I am a year later, 13 real pounds lighter, running half marathons, eating carbohydrates and no longer a slave to yo-yo dieting!

May 2012
Finally hit goal weight!

August 2012
Still Maintaining!

June 2014
Life has been really hard going through the divorce and raising two boys by myself because their father moved 15 hours away last year. I have put on 15 pounds and feel fat and unmotivated. I am turning back to Spark for help and motivation. I joined the 5% challenge...again. I have failed the last 4 times and may be banned from some teams. I will not give up though!

Hi, just stopped by to remind you to weigh-in this next Saturday. If you can't be home on Saturday, you are allowed to weigh-in early, but if you miss 2 it will make you default, so please try to get it done. I don't want to lose a good teammate and I know everyone has busy lives, especially with getting kids where they need to go to. Anyway, I hope you have a good week and I have been stuck for a while now, so I am hoping to shake things up and get a loss this next Saturday. We only have 2 more weigh-ins to finish the spring challenge. Anyway, good luck to you! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Laura, I hope you have a good Mother's Day today and do something special with your kids. Mine are all working, but they stopped over earlier in the week. My granddaughter and I went out yesterday for lunch and then went shopping, and my back and hip is hurting again today, so I am going to rest and just do some laundry. I hope you are doing well. My weight loss has been at a standstill during this entire Spring Challenge and it gets so discouraging, but I will just keep trying. I thought about trying the Keto Diet, which Dawn and a couple of the other Firecracker team has followed and I have been trying to follow Mr. Owl's Beck Solution Diet, but I am not very good at following it religiously. Oh well, I just wanted to stop by and see how you are doing and if I can help you anyway, please don't hesitate to let me know. Have a great day!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
