I joined SparkPeople and lost 90#. Then, I stopped counting calories and measuring food because I got tired of it and thought I could "eyeball" my food pretty good. Needless to say, I fell off the wagon and gained it all back plus more. 5 years later, I had Gastric Sleeve surgery. Again I lost 90#. In the support group, people would say how they could no longer eat sugar or bread or pasta because they would vomit and have dumping Syndrome. That didn't happen to me. I could eat everything after surgery that I could before only not as much. So eventually I went back to too many carbs and soda. I gained back 60#. Now, since September I'm down 20#. Trying to focus on more protein, a lot less soda and not too much junk. I have realized that, for me, counting calories and measuring food is the ONLY way I'm going to get to and stay at a healthy weight. It's the ONLY way I can hold myself accountable. I haven't quite started it again but this is me...trying. HW: 297, GW: whatever I feel looks good under 200. CW: 246 Update: lost a bunch from May 2019 to current (August 2019) CW: 215!! Fifteen pounds to go for goal one (getting Alice to ONEderland!!)

My Goals:
Just to get back into the swing of things and to really learn that this indeed is a "lifestyle change" and not something to bide the time until I am done losing, so I can go back to eating. I need to find something else in life that replaces my relationship with food.

My Program:
I don't use the meal plans I just enter my own food. Right now I am not doing anything for exercise because of my RA. I rode my recumbant bike for 25 min, mentally and Pulmonary-wise I could have kept going, but my knees and hips were burning so I had to stop.

Personal Information:
I have a son who means the world to me and not only for myself but I am doing it for him too. So that he doesn't learn my unhealthy eating habits. I want to run around with him and not get winded. I want to be a happier person too. I have realized that since I have been fat it makes me very mean because of being unhappy with myself. I have VERY low self esteem. I have had diabetes in the past and Im afraid of getting it back. :( I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and endometriosis.

Other Information:
My son was born premature and had a tracheotomy at two months old. Spent the first 11 months of his life in the hospital and died four times. Was on a ventilator and oxygen for 2 1/2 years. Now he is off of all life support! He is still learning how to eat but has oral sensitivity and will not chew his food. It takes him an hour to eat a half of a peanut butter and mashed banana sandwich because he puts it under his tongue instead of chewing it. In a way its a good thing that he wont really eat anything but pureed food right now because it gives me time to learn healthy habits to teach him when he does decide he wants to eat.

    Happy Birthday to You!!

Born September 18, you believe that who you are now is a direct result of what happened to you in the past -- and that who you will be in the future owes a great deal to whom you are now. This may seem obvious, but the fact is that you are always most concerned with the connection between the past and the present -- and the present with the future. You have a healthy respect for tradition, and though you may ultimately do something in your own way, it will almost always spring from your considerable knowledge of how that thing was done by others in the past.

You try, as much as possible, to avoid saying no to anything -- though there will always be exceptions to this unspoken rule. You much prefer to approach life with a yes on your lips, for that way you feel that you are far more primed to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.

Today’s Virgo Horoscope: You can trust in that which has served you well in the past -- and one of your old friends is likely to come through in a pleasing way.

    Hope your day was wonderful!

Hi! My middle child has severe speech Apraxia and is congnitively delayed. She recieves speech therapy in school and is pulled into a learning resource room for reading. My youngest son is speech delayed due to hearing loss as a toddler and has adhd, he is currently on concerta and in behavorial therapy. It is easier to say no to food after the bypass because of te simple fact that if I eat too much, or eat the wrong things I get serously ill. Pop makes me sick for hours. I do feel deprived sometimes, usually when people are eating sweets in front of me, since sugar is a big no-no.I am never hungry and so have to remind myself to eat often but I know that eventually this effect will go away and I will be hungry.

Hi Alice! I live in Michigan. My oldest two kids are girls and my youngest is a boy. Both of my younger children are special needs. I had the bypass surgery 6 weeks ago and it was the best choice for me. My surgery went well, I am down 40lbs, and I don't regret it at all. If you have anyquestions feel free to ask. emoticon
