Five years ago I reached my goal weight with Weight Watchers. With their help and some loss before joining, I lost 60 pounds. Last year I lost another 10 and was at last back to my high school weight. My husband of almost 40 years has always loved the outdoors, but my weight prevented me from doing most of the activities he enjoyed. Getting in shape has allowed my husband and our family to discover the fun in hiking. While our life used to revolve around watching other people exercise in the form of sitting in front of the TV during baseball, basketball, and football games, we began to spend nearly every weekend hiking and planned our vacations around hitting the trails. We've introduced our grandchildren to the joys of being a part of nature by showing them the magnificent offerings we can find out of doors.

Since I retired from teaching in June, I have gained 17 pounds. My inactivity has begun to concern me because with the weight gain has come a deterioration of my body. Hiking has become such a vital part of our lives, I have to get myself back in shape to enjoy the trails!

Personal Information:
My name is Judy. My grandson Dusty called me "Bummer" when he was too little to pronounce Grandma. I was very sad when, at 4, he decided he was too mature to call me Bummer anymore.

Other Information:
I'm a retired high school English teacher, grandmother of 10, and I love to travel. Once getting back in shape, I want to begin hiking again. Two years ago we hiked the Sierras and last fall we hiked in Yellowstone. There's nothing quite like it.
