Hi, I'm Angie. I'm 33 and frustrated (and have been for about 16 or so years) at being overweight. I'm an Occupational Therapist. I just left a job after 3.5 years that was mostly a desk job, since I worked in a Behavior Health world with soldiers with PTSD and mild TBI. I am now looking for a job, but it's extremely likely that I will be much more on my feet and doing actual physical work that most OT's do. I'm excited about that. But, for the first time in my life, I'm worried that because of how out of shape I am, I might actually run the risk of injuring my back (we do a lot of lifting) or something like that. Even though I've always been heavy, I used to at least work out regularly and stay in some sort of shape.

I don't like how much my weight (only one (heavy) part of who I am) affects so much of my life. I don't like how much I think about it, and how much I loathe it. I don't like that my self-identity has changed and suffered because of my weight.

Today, I am starting the change to become the person that I really am, both inside and out!

Right now, I am trying to:

"Transformation is not five minutes from now; it's a present activity. In this moment you can make a different choice, and it's these small choices and successes that build up over time to help cultivate a healthy self-image and self esteem."

"Every day of our lives we are faced with a choice.
The choice to BE, or to be truly AMAZING.
Ask yourself if what you're doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
No matter who you are, or what you do, you absolutely, positively do have the power to TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE."

"Whenever you make a mistake or get knocked down by life, don't look back at it too long.
Mistakes are life's way of teaching you. Your capacity for occasional blunders is inseparable from your capacity to reach your goals.
No one wins them all, and your failures, when they happen, are just part of your growth. Shake off your blunders.
How will you know your limits without an occasional failure? Never quit. Your turn will come."

"Three of the most powerful words in the English language are 'I AM RESPONSIBLE.' It's tough to do, but when the day comes that you can say those words, believe them, and mean them, it will be the most liberating moment of your life. Taking responsibility for all of your results, for better or for worse, is taking back your power to create results in your life."
