I just read what you wrote in Today's Reflections:

I just embarked on MY WALKING EXERCISE REGIMEN yesterday. Yesterday I walked for 10 minutes -- today I walked for 15 minutes. My goal for each day of this week is to ADD 3 to 5 minutes.

I should explain I walk very slowly with a cane BUT I'm proud of myself for MAKING THE EFFORT. I'm not in a race with anyone BUT I'm FOCUSED on making each day COUNT.

I want you to know I really APPRECIATE what you wrote for several reasons:

emoticon You actually reflected on the HEALTHY REFLECTION, "Small steps that lead us to achievement."

emoticon You are actually taking small steps to lead to achievement!

emoticon You INSPIRE me because you are walking with a cane! I have trouble walking (a little crippled due to an accident 56 years ago and now have arthritis) but (so far) I can walk without a cane or walker.

Wed. 08/03/11. Today was a so-so day for me. I didn't have a good night's sleep thanks to my dh snoring. I'm going to have to go to bed SO MUCH EARLIER. It's almost ridiculous that even with wearing ear plugs the sound is so strong I can still hear him.

I'm going to attempt to go for my morning walk. It's throwing me off my exercise regimen but I'll keep my focus.

I don't know how to change my Sparks page to allow others to view and to comment so as I become more adept at this I will just post on my own page.

Tuesday, August 2nd: Another good day for me. This morning I walked for 15 minutes.

Because I got up so early (4:30 a.m.), I found I was HUNGRIER than usual. I had a substantial breakfast. (1/2 cup diced Cantaloupe; 1/2 cup sliced strawberries; 3/4 cup Fiber One 80 Calorie Cereal; 1/2 cup Nonfat Milk and 1 Fiber One 90 Calories Chocolate Bar).

For lunch: I had Thomas Bagel Thin (toasted); 1 serving Laughing Cow Light Creamy Swiss Cheese; 1/3 English Cucumber (sliced diagonally); 8 Large Red Radishes; 12 Baby Carrots and Knudsen LowFat Pineapple- Cottage Cheese.

Snack: 1 Large White Peach and Skinny Cow Caramel Cone Ice Cream Cup.

For dinner: 4 oz. New York Steak (grilled on Foreman grill); 1 cup FRESH Green Beans and 1 Large White Peach. Now I'm going to go and check out my nutrition tracker.

Today has been a very good day FOR ME. I followed thru with my promise to START my exercise regimen. I should explain that because of an accident four months ago I have had a problem with my feet. Unfortunately, I have neuropathy and must NOW walk assisted with a cane.

My pcp did suggest I start using a walker .. but PRIDE (which is one of my characteristics) of having to use a walker WAS too great for me to deal with. I've FINALLY accepted using the cane (that was another problem I had to deal with) and although I walk very slowly I'M FINALLY ABLE to walk. I walked for 10 minutes .. straight. Tomorrow, I will be adding MINUTES to my walk. And each day I will also ADD DISTANCE.

I feel good .. and although it's not a major step IT IS A STEP FORWARD.
