My life with food has basically been a love-hate relationship. I have went from one extreme to the other, from not eating enough to eating as much as I could stuff down my throat. I cannot keep doing what I am doing if I want to live. I was given a very grim prognosis in February of 2018. I was diagnosed with an incurable disease which keeps on progressing. My only hope is to slow the progression down. I want to live, there are so many things that I have yet to experience. Hearing that you may have only so long to live is hard. Goals change, life changes, so many changes. Your whole world changes. I know realize the someday has to be today. I don't know what tomorrow brings. I have to focus in the here and now. Live in the moment. My self-care has got to become a priority and the time is now. I know that I will face some challenges and obstacles, but determination to get through them and perseverance are going to help push me through. I am here in survival mode. I feel like I have been given a second chance with my eyes wide open on just how important taking care of myself is. I can't keep pushing my health aside, it is so important that I make myself a priority and no one is going to take care of me the way that I can. So, here I am, doing what I can, the best that I can to add days to my life.

My Goals:
My goals are to: 1. Lose weight so that I am in a healthier weight range for me. At this point in time I am not setting a goal weight. I would just like to get my BMI out of the 40s for starters. 2. To live the best life that can so that my disease progresses slowly or is stable. 3. To overcome the obstacles that life may bring to me on my journey.

My Program:
My program is to stay within the calorie range of 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day. Also, to limit my sodium intake to 1,300 to 1,500 mgs. per day. I also need to focus on my fluid intake and try to keep it as close to 64 ounces as possible. This will include all liquids and not just water due to fluid restrictions my physicians have given me. To stay as active and exercise when my health allows.

Personal Information:
I suffer from Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (WHO Class 3 and also Functional Class 3) Losing weight is going to be a challenge for me due to breathing issues and not being able to exercise and move like I used to be able to. I am determined to do what I need to do in order to slow the progression of my disease. There is no cure for this disease only medications and treatments to slow the progression. I have a lot to live for, therefore, I want to do my part in living my best life.

    Today is Day 2 of successes for me. I am focused. I am on track. I want to push myself towards my goal. No more waiting for it to come to me.

    I have eaten clean both days. I have gotten out and burned calories each day.

    Tomorrow is a fresh start for me. I need to decide if I am going to push myself to day 3, or if I am going to sit back on my laurels and wait for success to come to me.

    I know what I am going to try to decide tomorrow. What about you? What are you going to decide to do today? Wait for success, or go out and chase it down?

    Well, another week has passed. All we can do about it now is reflect. Did you eat well? Did you get in as much exercise as you wanted? Just look back to see if there is anything you can do differently this week. Last week is past. There is nothing that can be done about it now.

    Now is the time to think about your goals. Where do you want to be tomorrow? How can you get there from where you are now?

    TODAY is the day for ACTION. It is time to take some of those small steps to reach those goals. Is it get in 30 minutes more exercise? Drink more water? More Fruits or vegetables? Or maybe you want to find a new job. What are you going to do TODAY - NOW - to reach that goal?

    You can do this. You are worth this. I can't wait to hear about your successes.

    Happy Monday!
    What are you going to do today to reach your goals? Today is going to pass you by no matter what. You have a choice. Are you going to take advantage of it, or just let it go by and get nothing back from it?

    Personally, I am going to burn at least 500 extra calories today, eat clean, and drink my water. Those are my small steps today to reach my goals tomorrow.
