Introduction Text I'm a mother to 3 grown children and grandmother to 3 little ones, ages 3, 2, and due to be born in a couple of months. I live in central Alabama. I've been struggling with my weight since giving birth to my first child 36 years ago. I developed thyroid problems which weren't caught until a year later. I lost 49 pounds in 2003 and put some of it back on. I'm hoping to lose those pounds again and actually reach my goal this time. At my high weight of 218.2, I struggled to catch my breath from simple things like turning over in bed, tying my shoes, and other similar things. Things are much better now but I plan to continue to exercise on a regular basis. At my highest weight we made a trip to the Grand Canyon but I was unable to handle a short hike only about a mile or so down and back. I want to return when I'm in good physical condition and complete the hike. Update: I accomplished the goal of hiking the Grand Canyon on April 9, 2009. I hiked to the bottom of the Canyon one day, spent a night at the Phantom Ranch and hiked back up the following day.

I would like to return to the Grand Canyon and be able to hike all the way down and back up. (DONE 4/9/009) Go on a cruise as a slim person. Be able to shop for clothes in the regular departments.

I'm currently not eating wheat or sugar

I'm DeeDee from Alabama. I've been married for 37 years to my high school sweetheart. I have 2 wonderful grown sons and a beautiful daughter that recently became a pharmacist. I substitute teach in grades K-2 and high school.

I've gained and lost the same weight so many times that I can't even count them but am looking forward to getting them off for good and feeling healthy again.
