I have been trying to get the hang of this diet thing for five yrs now and for a while, I thought I had found the secret. I was doing the Oprah diet plan, as much as I dislike her, I noticed that what she was doing was working. She was eating no good carbs, protein, fruits and veggies...and it worked great...for a while. I lost 35 lbs but then I gained a disease diagnosis. I was diagnosed with Meniere's disease which put a damper on my diet because I was thrust into another diet, only this new diet wasn't a choice. Trying to figure it all out made me a lil depressed so along with losing 35 lbs, I struggled with my motivation and sanity! I maintained the weightloss for a while, but eventually that went out the window too and 2 yrs, a few moves later, I have gained 25 lbs back and I am more lost and depressed then ever. I have had Meneire's disease since I was 7, I just hadn't been diagnosed yet...I thought that being diagnosed would make things easier and would give me reliefe...never did I imagine that it would turn my life, my weightloss, and all else upside down!

I haven't quite figured it out yet...basically, I am trying to learn all that I can so I can make the right choices for myself and my weightloss while juggling a super restrictive disease.



Personal Information:
I'm Amanda. Currently I reside in Mobile, Al. I just moved from Huntsville, Al. I am heading back to school to get my degree in interior design and I write as a hobby...I am really quite good actually...but I don't want to pursue it as a career despite my friends and family encouraging me to. I have a wonderful husband, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a hamster and a partridge in a pear tree. Despite my annoying Meniere's disease and trouble losing weight, I have a pretty good life.

    Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

    1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

    2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

    The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!
