Hi! I'm Candi. I am a Special Education teacher in Missouri. I am a 44 year old mother of three children, one in college, one in high school, and one going into pre-school! Nuff said? My husband and I decided to join together to lose weight and eat healthy.

Wow! We have been with Sparkpeople for over a month and I have met my first goal (lost 10 pounds) and working on the next goal!

I want to eat healthier to feel better so I can be around to see my son grow.


My Program:
My plan is to eat healthier, more fruits and vegetables. I want to drink at least my 8 cups of water a day and walk at least 3 days a week.

I live in Central Missouri.

I am happily married.
I am an only child.
I am left handed.
I hate to clean house!
I love Italian food.
I'd walk a 1,000 miles up hill in a snow storm for a good piece of bread!
I wish I could play the piano and violin.
Some of my favorite people are kids!

    I love spring! emoticon The joy of planning my gardens .I love the first sign of the crocus, emoticon daffodil, and tulips pooping up, emoticon brushing away the dead and heavy cover to see the strawberries, chives,parsley and lavender emerge, emoticon the shoots of green buds on trees, emoticon and the robins returning, emoticon the morning sounds of the birds chirping. emoticon

    Spring is a time of renewal. The weather gets warmer and the days grow longer allowing us time to get out doors and PLAY! Finding fun and exciting ways to enjoy the out of doors will invigorate and motivate you plus it changes your routine causing those pounds to drop. Try biking, rollerblading, trail hiking or geocaching. Play kick the can, skipping, or jump roping with the kids. Push strollers, walk dogs, climb fences. Join a league. Grow a garden. The possibilities are limitless.

    Spring is a time of freshness. Start trying some new veggies and fruits. Drink lots of water. Give yourself a homemade facial or scrub your feet with an abrasive. Give your house a good cleaning. Get rid of the old.

    Okay, hopefully I motivated you to make some fun changes and break up your routine a tad. Let me know what works for you! emoticon

    emoticon It's Sunday morning and I am sitting here with a hot cup of tea trying to compose my thoughts/plans for the week. I really wanted to talk about never giving up, so I found this by Conrad Hilton:
    Achievement seems to be connected with action.
    Successful men and women keep moving.
    They make mistakes, but they don't quit.

    So if you have made a mistake this week, BIG DEAL. Pick yourself up and start again. I feel so lucky to be healthy and in control of myself right now.



    emoticon emoticon On another note, there were so many blogs this week from friends with chronically ill parents. I experienced that last year and know how hard it is to take care of them. You literally have no time for yourself and you tend to slip back into bad habits. If any of you have extra energy this week, please send it in your thoughts and prayers to those who need the strength and sleep to continue caring for their loved ones.
