Sparkpeople has inspired me to reach my fitness and nutrition goals during a very challenging season of life. I am in the midst of a grueling doctoral program---I am a true intellectual at heart, but school can be darn overwhelming. As a creative outlet, I teach abs, step aerobics, and dance fitness (BodyJam) classes several times a week. I just got trained in BodyAttack, and will be teaching my own attack classes this summer. I love motivating others to become fitter. I believe that exercise and healthy lifestyle choices are crucial for psychological and emotional health...very consistent with my professional goals for becoming a clinical psychologist.

I'd also like to say that as a female, I try to work on two seemingly contradictory goals at once....striving to become fitter AND striving for greater self-acceptance of my body. There is so much pressure for women to be perfect physically--this is very damaging for many females. I try to work toward healthy, realistic goals that lead to greater overall health and wellbeing. If fitness becomes an obsession or sole means of identity, then the point is lost...there are many things about my body that will never be perfect, regardless of what I do. I am always working on accepting my body for its limitations, and being patient with myself when I fall short of my own goals.

My Goals:
1. Eat cleaner
2. Increase weight training
3. Train cardio for filming BodyAttack video
4. Work on BodyJam/BodyAttack choreography

My Program:
I love the gym, and am there 5-6 days a week. I teach fitness classes 3-4 per week. I also strength train one body part per day, and do abs 2-3 times per week. When I do my own workouts, I LOVE the ArcTrainer Elliptical at my club, and also practice choreography in the group fitness room.

Personal Information:
I currently live in Texas, but am originally from Florida. I have also lived in Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana....a true southern girl. My life is fairly hectic, with graduate school taking up most of my time right now.

Other Information:
Currently reading a book entitled _Love's Executioner_ by provocative and courageously written..I'm inspired to be more authentic in my relationships...both therapeutic and otherwise.

    OH... AND i would just like to say to everyone else that she is such a super great workout class teacher.... she helped me lose my last 10 pounds :)... (then i moved away and gained it back!, lol). Also, i love what you said on your profile about the two contradictory goals. VERY true.

    SARAH! OH MY GOSH I'M SO GLAD YOU GOT ON HERE AND FOUND ME :). I miss super step, and body jam :(.... but I'm trying to figure something else out that i can deal with. Andrew my husband got the program P90X and it has worked good for him, and i think i'm gonna start incorperating it in mine. now that i'm off for summer, i have NOOOOO excuses. I've missed seeing you i'm so glad you left me a comment and I hope you get on and check things often :).... by the way, do you have a face book or a myspace page? so glad to talk to you!
