In 2009, a doctor told me I had high blood pressure. She was right; the reading was high, though I was incredibly nervous and anxious when she took it. Rather than focus on dietary changes, the doctor insisted I start taking TWO different pills after having only had ONE blood pressure screening. I filled the prescription, but never took the pills, and instead decided to focus on diet and exercise. I lost fifty pounds in about a year, and it was a long, difficult road, but in my mind, it was better than popping pills to fix the problem. (And later, another doctor diagnosed me with "white-coat syndrome," saying that my high blood pressure could be attributed to my nerves!) At any rate, my blood pressure is completely normal now.

Despite the different opinions of two doctors and the mess that ensued as a result of the first diagnosis, I'm glad things happened the way they did. I wouldn't be where I am today.

My current goal is to get back down to my previous weight before I gained back all I had originally lost (50 pounds!) in 2009. I have a ton of clothes from that time period that I never got rid of, and I look forward to fitting in them again at some point.

My Program:
I follow a whole-foods, plant-based diet with minimal refined sugar and flour.

I exercise when I can, but I aim for at least 3-4 days of cardio and 3 days of strength training.

    Thanks for the encouragement! It's good to hear someone has had success with that workout. I totally know what you mean about cursing Jillian, I've tried her NMTZ and BFBM videos and I cursed at her the whole way through them like a crazy person! LOL Her workouts are insane but I love her for it :-)

Im staying pretty much around the weight I was when I stopped sparking so at least theres one positive outcome lol 24 lbs lost is awesome girl!!!     I used one 6 oz. carton plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, 1/2 a frozen banana, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup ice cubes, and your sweetener of choice to taste. It came out to 190 calories and was heavenly. :-)

    I've also been just mixing 1/4 to 1/2 cup canned pumpkin with the carton of Greek yogurt & Splenda. It comes out to an applesauce-like consistency and is only 105 or 130 calories depending on which amount of pumpkin. Super easy and super tasty!
