Updated 1/2017 So, my previous attempt worked for a bit, (see below), but got sidelined by injury and illness and lack of funds for a Y membership. I was, at one point, at my highest weight 302 lbs. I made a goal to lose 40 lbs. by my 40th birthday and managed 30 and plateaued and let my eating go unchecked. I've been hovering at the same weight of 276 and now find it medically necessary to lose weight. This summer I will be 43 and I'd like to live at least another 43 years. This time around it is a matter of life or death.

hi. i'm amy from indiana. i'll be 35 this, how did i get here??? i was little in high school, but thought i was huge. i didn't eat much. i went to college and gained the typical freshman 15...and then some. guess that's what happens when you start eating. toward the end of my college years...i would consider myself overweight, but in good shape. in 2002 i had a major back injury and BOOM! gained 40 lbs. in 3 months. with back trouble i've found it harder to be as active as i would like to be. i got a job in 2007 and gained another 40 lbs... too many "pitch-ins". i'm going on 35 and haven't even been able to consider having kids. i have enough trouble carrying my own weight around. i don't want my nephews and niece to be embarrassed by their fat aunt. i want to be able to keep up with my energetic husband. i know if i lose weight, it will help my back troubles.

I AM READY. my brother-in-law's wife and i are going to be a team in our local YMCA's "Better Weigh" program starting this monday (may 4,2009). i will learn how to exercise for my body, how to eat better and regain the self-confidence that i once had. the lady that showed me around the Y before i joined lead me to this website. i'm excited to become part of a community facing the same issues and reaching for the same goals as me. Here I Go!!!

I love to laugh. I enjoy being an aunt to 5 nephews and 3 nieces! I like to read, knit, color, sing, learn stuff, encourage others. I am a Christian and am thankful to live in a country where I am free to be one.
