Hello! I am well on my way to a healthier me!

My Story:
When I was younger (early 20's,) I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, a disease which causes the thyroid gland to work overtime. I had never really developed healthy eating patterns up until this point in my life, but always stayed thin, regardless, becasue I was always very physically active.

With the diagnosis of my disease, I was able to live a more sedentary life, and still remain thin, due to the fact my metabolism was on hyper-overdrive.

As I agot a little older, however, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, and my thyroid gland gradually began to burn itself out. My poor eating patterns started to catch up with me. My metabolism slowed way down, and I began to put on weight rapidly.

After a few bouts of yo-yo dieting, I finally decided to take control of my body, and begin making healthier eating choices. SparkPeople has been an invaluable tool in getting me off on the right foot, and I know this time, I WILL succeed. It's simply a matter of time, patience, and slowly, day by day making the right choices.

As I told my husband recently, I'm not on a DIET, I am simply focusing on making smart choices in diet and exercise meal by meal, day by day, week by week.

And quite frankly, I'm loving the results!

Down to 265 by my birthday (11-22-07) - SUCCESS! I reached my goal on 11/15/2007

Down to 260 by Christmas 2007 - SUCCESS! I reached my goal on 12/9/2007

Down to 255 by New Year's Day - SUCCESS!! I reached my goal on 12-20-2007

Down to 245 by May 20th

Long Term:

Be able to shop in the "Misses" department for clothes, rather than the "Plus Size" department.


My Program:
Eating healthier

Drinking at least 5 cups of water per day

Eating at least two fresh fruit or veggie items per day



Personal Information:
I am 33, and live in Beaverton, Oregon with my husband, Mark. We have been married seven years. We have three kitties, and a house in the burbs with a large garden.


Other Information:
I enjoy working in our yard, gardening, reading, baking, trying out new recipes I find on SparkPeople, traveling, and having fun with friends.

Mark and I are very active in our church (a shout out to Portland Christian Center!) and enjoy talking to others about Christianity.
