Hi there! My name is Amanda, and I'm 26. I'm married to an awesome man and have 2 beautiful boys, 2 and almost 5. We live in Okinawa, Japan due to my husband being in the military. It's a beautiful place, but I miss my extended family back in the U.S.

A little about my weight struggles: I was a chubby kid, but once puberty hit I slimmed up a lot. I was a cheerleader in middle school and was very fit. I was about 120lbs all through high school and through my first year of college. After that I got a desk job and the weight started piling on. I wasn't exercising at all and gained about 15lbs that first year. Then I got married and things evened out a bit. My husband was deployed almost the entire 1st year of our marriage, and to pass the time while he was gone I would run. I had a very physical job as well, so I was constantly moving. Once he got home from deployment I let the weight creep back on and ended up about 150 by the time I got pregnant with my first son. I had severe morning sickness with him and lost almost 20lbs in my first trimester, but gained it all back later! After he was born I lost down to 150 , and then got pregnant again when he was about 18 months old. I gained about 50lbs when I was pregnant with my second son and never got below 165 after he was born. Then my husband deployed when my youngest was 4 months old and my oldest was 2 1/2, and I did not have the time or the inclination to exercise or eat healthy. I was exhausted all the time and was fairly depressed. We had just moved to Japan, and I hadn't met anyone who I clicked with yet, so I was pretty much alone with 2 really small children. I gained up to 200lbs when he was gone, but in the year he's been back I've lost down to 170 and now I'm back up to 176-177. I don't want to get back to 200lbs again, and I would really like to look nice when he gets back from the deployment he just left on. I hope to be at the most 140lbs when he gets back from his deployment in November. The kids are older now, so I can exercise more (Yay!). I can't wait to get started and see the numbers drop again. The best motivation for me is when my clothes start getting too big! I LOVE that feeling! My husband is a very active, fit person and I want to be that way again too!

Yes, it is quite a journey, full of lots of up and down hills! I haven't been that active on the site recently (except for my BLC group), but my goal is to start commenting on blogs again. We'll get through this and most definitely get back to where we were - and beyond!! We got this!

Thanks for the story! I figured, if anything else, we could all use some faith in humanity!

Hope you have a wonderful evening!

I've had a few stumbles recently (ie, gaining a lot of weight when I went home for a week), but I'm working it off! I am able to fit in size 12 jeans with no problem though! I just bought a pair and it is so exciting! How have you been doing?

Hey! I was just looking around your page and realized that we're about the same weight and have the same goal to get to somewhere between the 120s-130s! We could definitely motivate each other! I'm also thinking we're about the same height? I'm 5'2'' and I'm ALMOST ready to go out and buy some size 12 jeans! My size 14s are loose, but no where near falling off yet!

Congrats on your successes so far and keep up the great work!

    Hi Amanda!
Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging words about my work with the shelter dogs! Its wonderful that you foster cats! I have a 6 year old black female house cat named Abbey that I rescued after she was found as a tiny, very ill baby kitten. Now Abbey is the picture of health. I hate it so much when any animal is put down--my dear little Abbey, as well as my dogs, either had medical problems when I adopted them or are permanently special needs. A little love and care makes a world of difference and we receive so much more from the animals than we could ever give back. Bless you for your work with the cats! We do not have an indoor cattery at our shelter but we do take care of a small colony of semi feral cats who live on the shelter grounds.
