Hello! My name is Rebecca and I am editing my introduction page. I would like to say that I am right where I would like to be in life but who is really? I could call myself many things, wife, Mother, Grandma, daughter, retired, overweight, and not in the best health of my life. However, I am choosing to call myself something different today. I am hopeful, adventurous, a good friend, and someone who tries to give the most to those she loves. I am also seeking to give some of that love to myself now. We sometimes tend to beat ourselves up because we do not meet our own expectations of perfection. I am Rebecca, and yes I deserve to feel as good about myself whatever weight I happen to be, as we all do. That is why I am not on a weight loss journey this time but I journey to better health. I understand that on this journey I will have to lose weight to attain better health but I will do it by eating healthy foods, which are the best for my overall health. I am excited about the positive steps I am taking and fortunate to have others along with me on this positive trip.

My Goals:
To be as healthy as I can and be an example to those I love. To get in the shape where I can do the things I dream of. To minimize my needs and wants to only the important things.

My Program:
I am trying the South Beach Diet based on the healthy properties of this diet. I was an investigator by trade so I have the tendency to research diets very thoroughly. I like what I read about the Wheat Belly Diet also. I will be limiting wheat as much as I can.

Personal Information:
I am originally from Juneau, Alaska which is a place I try to visit when I can. However, I love living in southern Arizona because of the great weather and the unusual beauty all around. I absolutely love to travel. Anyone want some adventures?

Other Information:
I would love to do the pilgrimage of the Way of St. James in Spain, go river rafting in the Grand Canyon, sky diving in the desert.

Update: I did the pilgrimage listed above and it was as wonderful as expected. Don't give up on your dreams. Grand Canyon here I come!

    This is my third day with SparkPeople. I do not profess to understand how all the communication and interaction with others works, but I just read your blog and accompanying website on stride length and felt a need to comment (which is absolutely not like me at all). Our similarities in your stride blog were overwhelming. I felt as though the blog could have been written by me. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It was certainly one of enlightenment for me and enforced that I am indeed in the right place. I'm working to get both my mind and body to stride longer, quicker and happier. Thanks again! Suzy
