Unfortunately the phone is my best way of connecting here. The down side of that is formatting glitches when viewed in SparkPeople’s desktop mode.

"Healthy BMI" is not a medical term. I coined the term and personally define it as anything between 18 and 30. Between those ranges I prefer to focus on body composition. (The medical term is "normal BMI" and is defined as anything between 18 and 25.)

Reset.

So much stress and uncertainty accumulated between 2014-2021 that I regained back up nearly to my original starting weight. Sometimes things in life overcome even repeated attempts at damage control, let alone weight maintenance.

Things have finally settled down somewhat lately, and I’ve now got the wherewithal for food and weight logging again. (On the LoseIt phone app - I still have limited and slow internet, so using sites like this one is still challenging.)

I’m trying to figure out to what extent I can participate, using my cell phone. There is minimal functionality on SP with a phone, compared with a computer.

In the meantime, I’m managing the spreadsheets in the background for the Maintenance Anniversaries and Hall of Fame.

(Many grateful thanks to LAURIE5658 for doing the wonderful public announcements and acknowledgments! ❤️)

I’ll celebrate when I re-lose 10% of my maximum again, and especially when I get back to a BMI under 30.

Between now and then, it’s one foot in front of the other. I’m grateful that I spent all that time before, figuring out what tends to work for me, both psychologically and physically. It provides a roadmap. I’m older and my physiology has changed, but it’s a decent starting point.

Wish me sanity and perseverance! And luck, because I’ll never turn down any extra assistance, even in the form of fate. 🙂

My Goals:
I want to stay at a healthy BMI. To me that basically means
1) keeping below a BMI of 30 and
2) keeping my % body fat in the 17-19 range.

This usually happens around a weight of 150-155 for me.

Reward for reaching a "normal" BMI (under 25): Finis Swimp3 1GB waterproof MP3 Player - achieved on 12/23/2009. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year & Joyous Festivus! LOL

I had a DXA scan done on January 15, 2010. It said I had 19% body fat. At the time I would have been happy with 25%!

My Program:
Food profile:

- 50g of fat minimum
- 40g of fiber minimum
- 150g of protein minimum
- 100g of sugar MAXIMUM

- Alternate strength training and cardio M-F
- Spend weekends outside having FUN (XC skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, road cycling, white water kayaking)

Personal Information:
"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. [...] In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not. Look here! If you've really nothing else on hand this morning, supposing we drop down the river together, and have a long day of it?" -- Rat, The Wind in the Willows

Other Information:
I discovered white water kayaking in late autumn 2009 - or maybe it discovered me.

I now aim to become the baddest 40-something ass on the river who used to weigh over 300 lbs. LOL
Not sure how much competition there is for such a title... ;-)
