I am a 42 year old child care provider, as well as, a mother to three boys (22,16,9) and wife to a dedicated marathon runner.

I had a great experience back in 2011 and was able to lose 40 lbs in 11 months. The first 9 months was all about transforming my food intake (logging on loseit/reducing my portions) and walking. The final 2 months I incorporated a daily exercise routine focused on toning my body. Finally, I was a healthy weight and wearing a size 10/12, something I hadn't been able to do since I was a preteen. It was a great time of self-discovery and growth.

Unfortunately, that time of calm and confidence didn't last forever and we had some life changes that took the focus away from routines and good habits. The weight I had lost returned and although I've made a few attempts to get back on the wagon along the way they were halfhearted at best. However, today is a new day I understand that the time is now, not when things settle down because let's face it, that time will never materialize.

My goal is to reduce my weight by 1- 2 lbs. per week.
This is how I plan to get there...

Diet - Good food choices, portion control, logging
Exercise - Spring time equals more sunshine for walking along with Curves/ DVD's
Water - lots of it
Sleep - min.8 hours
Counselling - when life's next changes occurs I will have the tools to weather the storm

I want to be consistent and stick with what I know works - the knowledge is there and now the follow through is what it's all about.

My online friends have been awesome and super patient. They are a great source of support and the give and take is exactly what I need. I lost the weight and now I know what I am capable of, but sometimes that feels like a curse - I often wonder what brought on the light bulb moment in the first place and how can I reignite my original passion and focus. Experience tells me that staying in the moment and dealing with one decision at a time will be the key to my success.

My Goals:
I've changed my ticker to represent smaller goals...this one will take me to next month and the following one will likely be another short goal.
I found the overall picture overwhelming - it's hard to enjoy living in the present when the path ahead is already laid out.


My Program:
SMART Goals

Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Timely

Last week I increased my water intake and found that it curb my night time eating - also I wasn't reaching for food because I was dehydrated - bonus!

This week consistency is key!



Personal Information:
I live in Ontario, Canada and wouldn't be anywhere that was far from my mother - she is my closest friend.

Life has been challenging for a few years, but I attribute that to the passing of my son, Mattieu in 2003. The fog seems to be lifting for my husband and I, which can only benefit my weight loss journey.


Other Information:
This is the first time since I've been aware that I was overweight - 25 years ago, that I believe in myself and can visualize success, which feels remarkably different and is driving me to stick with it!

    Yes, I live about 45 minutes east of Toronto.
    An accountability Buddy is exactly what I need - what are you looking for: sharing food/exercise journals, recipe swaps and gernral discussion (my personal specialty).

    I look forward to getting to know you better as we go along.

    Oh, I shoould mention that I an a TOPS (Taking Off Pound Sensibly) chapter leader - that means I try to motivate 20 other woman to lose weight - it's a tough job, but I enjoy doing it!
